Asphalt 8 Airborne – Game Review
The Asphalt series has always been one of the best racing games for mobile platforms and Asphalt 8 Airborne tries to live up to the brand expectations of the previous title. Fans of the series have always been expecting something new and exciting, but unfortunately the previous title disappointed on many levels, especially since most of its tracks were rehashes from the previous titles.
Asphalt 8 Airborne however is set to make things right as it features a whole new engine, complete with amazing features as well as numerous other engaging changes that make the gameplay feel fresh and exciting.
The interesting thing here is that you only get 9 tracks and their mirrored versions. For many gamers, this will seem like a small offering and they are certainly true. Even if the tracks are cleverly designed, with lots of secret areas and numerous other interesting additions, having only 9 different tracks does hurt the game a lot instead of making it shine. Despite that, playing the game is very easy and overall you will certainly have a lot of fun as you try to finish up the races.
Asphalt 8 Airborne does bring a championship mode where you play against the AI, but if you want you can engage in multiplayer races as well, and this is one of the best places where you can actually get the competition you deserve since a lot of times the AI won’t provide the challenge you need. Getting into an online game is fast and easy, something that certainly enhances the game experience.
Since the subtitle of the game is Airborne, you would expect a lot of crazy jumps to be included here and boy you are in for a treat. All tracks have certain ramps and power-ups that will send you flying as you try to perform tricks that will rack up many points, such as the barrel roll for example.
You progress through the game by earning stars which also provide you money that can be used to get new cars. There are a lot of challenge that you can play, most of them requiring a certain type of car, so you will certainly enjoy what the game has to offer. However, the game does seem to make you buy the car packs which can be purchased for real money, which is not a great thing unfortunately. Despite that, the need for in-app purchases is not that obvious especially when you compare the game with Real Racing 3.
Overall, Asphalt 8 Airborne successfully manages to improve the game experience brought by the Asphalt series. With death defying stunts, an impressive gameplay as well as numerous other perks, Asphalt 8 Airborne makes it easy for you to enjoy mobile racing at its best, thanks to the amazing features that it provides. It might not be the best arcade racing game that you can find right now, but I’s certainly one of the best ones that you can find on the market, so it’s well worth a try!
