Bellyfish – Game Review
We all love arcade games, and being able to play them on our phone while we are going to a new place or when we are bored, but some games are so good that you just can’t stop playing. Bellyfish is a simplistic, ye highly addictive game in which you play the role of a cute, fat fish in which you want to kill as many enemies as possible, with the sole purpose of getting some impressive, highly amusing results.
Score attack is definitely the major appeal of the game, since you will always try to get better and better scores. While at first this can be a little hard to do, considering the game has a neat progression system and other similar stuff that just entice you to play more and more. At first, you will have to get accustomed with the interesting progression system as well as the coin system that does allow you to get characters and skills from the store.
Believe it or not, but this game is quite simplistic as an idea, although it does have its strikes of genius at times. The quests however are quite generic, since you just need to kill a certain enemy or collect an item, but that is to be expected if you take into consideration the whole premise of the game, as this is a very important thing.
The graphical presentation of Bellyfish will just blow you away, as the graphics are so funny and crisp in order to get the best results. Bellyfish looks great, and so do the other characters, the game world is just amazingly designed and overall the visual appearance of the title is an impressive one.
The soundtrack in Bellyfish is one of the best that you have seen in an arcade game, since it’s very action packed as you play, but it does manage to provide a stunning experience as you progress since it scales based on the action displayed on screen.
Power-ups in Bellyfish come in all shapes and sizes. Some of them are quite generic, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem. The main issue is the coin system because you do need to rely on it in order to get the best results. Unfortunately, relying on coins does take from the appeal of the game, and the in-app purchases are quite costly so the title does try to recoup its financial investment.
Still, Bellyfish is one of the most interesting free arcade games that you can find right now on the market. It has a stunning visual presentation, a wonderful soundtrack and a lot of simple elements that just make it stand out. If you like arcade games, we recommend you to give it a shot!
