CastleStorm – Free to Siege – Games Review
Build your own beautiful castle and smash others to pieces in this funny and exciting tower defence game, CastleStorm – Free to Siege! CastleStorm offers 1 campaign mode with 2 more mores, raid and survival, coming soon! The campaign includes 4 chapters, spanning a total of 150 battles! With each new chapter, you will also have access to a variety of castle designs, troops, projectiles and heroes from 4 different nations as well!
Ready to start playing? Well then, let’s go! Similarly to its computer version of the game, you get to choose the selection of projectiles, spells, troops and saved castle design you want to use. However, the game provides an added option of boosters that you can buy. Once you’re done, you can enter into the game proper!
The controls are fairly simple to learn in CastleStorm. For castle battles, there are 4 circular buttons on the right and 2 menu bar segments below the screen. The 4 buttons are used for switching between deploying troops, shooting projectiles from your castle, using spells to control the power of nature (such as firestorm or tornado) or taking to the field with your hero! The menu below will show you the selections that you’ve made prior to entering the battle and you can then choose the items you want to use to crush you enemy!
As mentioned, you can also play as your hero like in a 2D side-scrolling RPG. When your hero is spawned, you have a limited duration of time to hack-and-slash as many enemies as you can! You’ll be using the movement buttons on the left to move your hero while the right buttons are your attack and defend buttons. All of your characters, weapons and spells can also be upgraded to make them stronger! There are plenty of ways you can destroy your enemy in CastleStorm, but you should always be careful where you hurl that lump of stone! If you miss, you may risk injuring your own troops in the field! Furthermore, if your aim is good, you can try to get multi-kill streak combo or even headshots and earn even more rewards!
Moreover, the main objective in each game is simple, you can choose to destroy every functional room in the enemy’s castle or you could choose the, sometimes, easier way out, that is to just break down the enemy’s castle entrance, send troops in to retrieve his flag and bring it back to your own castle! The only problem with the flag scenario is that the flag bearer can be easily killed by projectiles or even by enemy troops. Not to mention, the main objective of the game only accounts for the 1 out of 3 stars that you can earn! The other 2 side objectives can be really challenging to complete and does push the game difficulty up a notch!
The best part in CastleStorm is definitely its Castle Editor! There are plenty of rooms and structures, including decorative ones, for you to build your castle with. Once done, you can even test it out to see how well it can last under aggressive attacks. The castle in this game should be structurally sound rather than beautiful (but if you can do both, then, good for you!). You need to ensure that it won’t collapse on itself at the first chance it gets! And lastly, don’t forget to save!
All in all, CastleStorm – Free to Siege is indeed a brilliant game that tower-defence lovers would enjoy immensely! Do give it a try today!
