Games… Why we play a game?

It’s kind of hard to imagine our world without game consoles, game platforms, games as such, installed on our PCs or smartphones, or just plain board games. It’s normal to see hundreds of people playing games on their way to work, from work and between work. Games are everywhere, and are often a big part of our lives. To make sure about their significance, take a look at the US report for 2013. The average age of a game player is 30 and the female part is probably bigger that you’d expect – 45%. But the most interesting fact is – 43% of game players believe that computer and video games give them the most value for their money, compared with DVDs, music or going out to the movies. It means that almost 50% of gamers choose games in terms of money-value and are really happy with that.

It’s not new to say games are alternative worlds to us. The best thing is that we are gods of those worlds and can do pretty much anything inside of them. This is why we get so much pleasure playing games.

Like a remedy, depending on our needs and our emotional state we choose the right game to play. We play certain games at certain point of time, just like reading a romance on holiday, or watching a comedy when we are sad. It’s just another yet very effective way of making good to yourself. Feeling alone? Play social games. Angry? Why not killing a bunch of enemies in some action game? Just want to relax and conquer other nations? Play strategies.

Based on a “symptom” we make a choice. Sometimes conscious and sometimes not, but always the best for us. Tell me what games you play and I will tell you who you are? :) This can be true.
