The apocalypse theme is quite popular nowadays, but have you imagined it coming from some calm beautiful village in Shopshire, England? We bet you haven’t! And Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is exactly about that. Well, not so obvious, of course, but still.
The story tells about people’s lives in a remote place, but doesn’t show the real people, because everybody… that’s right, gone. You, as a protagonist, have to find out why. The only clue you have so far is a message from a scientist Kate, left on the radio. There is also Stephen, Kate’s colleague and both of them were working in the observatory.
As you explore the location (which is amazingly beautiful and mysteriously calm), you find out more and more about what happened, kind of like gathering puzzles.
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture has received very good scores on IGN (8.5/10), GameSpot (9/10), and Metacritics (78/100). Visuals, environment, storytelling – those are the favorites of this game. The reviews from the players are quite diverged, though, and some say that the realization of the idea is not a good one. The only way to find out is to play yourself 😉
