Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft – Game Review
Combining card games with fantasy mechanics is something that a lot of games have done, but Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft is one of the few that actually manage to make the whole mechanic into something that’s really enjoyable and fun.
The game has 9 different classes that can be leveled up as you play. The interesting thing about it is that you actually learn XP and after a certainly level you actually gain expert packs that will provide you with the upper hand in battle. Yes, the game does have the option to pay real money for card packs if you want, but the interesting thing about it is that you’re not required to do that, instead you can easily play the game on your own without a problem.
The gameplay of Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft is, of course, centered on the card combat. A digital coin will be flipped at first, and once that is done you start the game with three different cards and full mana. The amount of mana usually goes up by one per turn, and this is the main resource that enables you to use cards. Of course, the weaker cards will require less mana, but the major ones will ask for a pretty large amount.
Your main objective in the game is to actually defeat your opponent which usually has 30 life point. There are multiple ways to deal damage in this particular game, including various types of minion attacks, but you can also use the hero powers, spells or any other cards to deal the desired amount of damage.
Thanks to the fact that cards are given randomly, you simply can’t know what you will receive next, so there is quite a lot of replayability in the game, which is definitely nice.
You have multiple game modes to choose from as well. You get to practice, go head to head with friends or, if you want, you can play online against people all over the world in the arena. The competitive matches are really nice and definitely keep the game fresh. There is also a game mode in which you need to play a certain amount of gold. The game ends when one of the two players will lose three rounds.
Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft is cross-platform compatible so you can easily play with a person that’s currently using the desktop client, which is really neat.
Graphically, Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft looks great for a card game. The backgrounds are fun and animated at times, and the overall action is full of effects, so we definitely like the visuals of the game!
The soundtrack is quite good, comprised of mostly background pieces and action packed ones that are blended naturally with the gameplay.
Overall, we find Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft to be a great title for anyone that wants a great, comprehensive card game where you need to develop tons of strategies in order to win. It’s unique and challenging, so we do recommend it to anyone that wants a great title to pass the time!
