Monsu – Games Review
Platform games tend to usually be very generic, and few of these titles manage to bring something new and exciting into the mix. There are some games though that manage to innovate and one of them is Monsu. This game manages to combine the intensity and skill brought by platform gaming with the beauty of collectible cards, a wonderful combinations that just works.
Your objective in the game is quite clear, you need to guide the main character, which is Monsu to go back to the stolen treasure and defeat all the villagers that try to reach the treasure before he does. As you play the game you will be able to receive numerous companion characters, as well as lots of new weapons, power-ups and tons of mounts. Creating the best helper combination is definitely the major goal of the game, because only this way you will be able to reap the best rewards in the end.
What makes the title stand out is the fact that it brings a very high production value and despite that is available free of charge. We found the platforming in Monsu to be very good and thanks to the neat graphics you simply feel more and more enticed to visit the game world and check out all its wonders and secrets.
Of course, the major attraction point of the game is the fact that you can collect items as you play and use them as helpers. These helpers are basically the heart and soul of the game, as by changing them you just get a new, refreshing game experience each time you play. We also liked the fact that you have the option to upgrade and evolve your cards in order to gain complete access to ultimate and legendary characters.
Additionally, we found the control system in Monsu to be precise and very easy to learn. This is important for a platform game, where even the simplest control problem can prove to be disastrous in the long run.
A neat feature comes in the form of friend tournaments, as you can engage other players in friendly competitions in order to find out which one of you is the best.
Lastly, you get the option to customize the character according to your needs. Modifying its appearance isn’t necessary, but this does open up a whole new way to interact with your character and we found it to be a cute addition to a great experience.
In conclusion, Monsuis a very good, rewarding game that manages to stand out through a very good gameplay, lots of replay opportunities and the fact that it’s free. Yes, it does come with some large in-app purchases, but those aren’t required in order to enjoy the game to its fullest, and that is why we recommend it to anyone looking to have some fun time while playing on their phone.
