When it comes to fighting games, Mortal Kombat is definitely the leader of the genre. But while the series had a great run on PC and especially on consoles, the reality is that the mobile platforms didn’t receive a good iteration for quite some time.
It seems that the new Mortal Kombat X will also come on mobile as well, but the interesting thing in this regard is that the game does go a little beyond the normal scope of the desktop version. Instead, what the game does on mobile is that it becomes a card and fighting battler.
The main gameplay in this title will basically be a head to head brawler, something that you would expect from the series, but there will be some card battler mechanics integrated in it as well. Since Mortal Kombat X is a fighting game at heart, adding these card battle mechanics might sound a little off for some people, but in the end this might actually be a very good idea.
You will be able to control most of the original Mortal Kombat characters in this title, but the best part about it is that you will also have the opportunity to control the next generation characters that appear in Mortal Kombat X for consoles and PC, a move that we think of as being really cool.
The game will include fatalities and there will even be an option to turn the gore off, if you want your kids to play this game. According to Warner Bros, there will be a multiplayer there as well, although they didn’t get into much detail with that. What they did say is if you own Mortal Kombat X for PC you will be able to unlock exclusive content on mobile, which should be a major treat!
