Targets – Games Review
Sent to a robot recycling factory to await oblivion, Blu3, an adorable blue robot, decides to escape his assigned fate and get to his dream vacation, but he’ll need your help! Help Blu3 get through the various barriers in this challenging and fast-paced, 2D side-scrolling endless-running game, Targets!
In this game, you’ll need to tap on the screen whenever Blu3 approaches an obstacle to throw a sticky bomb at it. Tapping anywhere on the screen won’t do however. Instead, you’ll need to aim at the targets’ core. Furthermore, some barriers may require more than 1 sticky bomb (meaning more than 1 tap) for the barriers to be removed.
How will you know how many bombs to use? Well, whenever you approach a barrier, there’ll be a yellow blob on the floor. That’s your sticky bomb. Once Blu3 ran over it, he’ll pick up all the bomb/s needed for you to clear the next upcoming obstacle. The bombs you’ve collected are shown on the top right corner of the screen. Then, all you need to do is to aim and shoot! Of course, you won’t be able to shoot before you pick those bombs off the floor… the game won’t let you do that.
The challenging part in Targets is that you’ll need to aim your bombs accurately at the first go since you probably won’t have enough time for a second chance as the game is really fast-paced. If you missed your shot, your robot will likely be electrocuted to death. Also, you’ll be aiming at different positions depending on the obstacle you’ll be facing. For energy barriers, you’ll aim for the rectangle core, which is usually placed high above the ground, but if you’re up against crates, you’ll then need to aim down.
Crates are really tough to clear since they are rather small. Not to mention, some energy barrier cores are placed in a horizontal manner, making accurate hits a lot more difficult than before, and some barriers are placed really close to each other as well! You’ll definitely need to be quick and accurate when aiming!
As you play the game repeatedly, you’ll gradually unlock all the different types of robots and sections of the factory. However, you won’t be able to choose which robot to play with since the game will randomly select an unlocked robot for you. The same goes for the factory scenes.
Not to mention, playing without a goal in mind can be pretty boring, so why not challenge yourself and try to get as high a score as you can? Don’t forget to check the leaderboard to see your standing among your friends as well as among all the players in the game!
All in all, Targets is a very challenging and fast-paced 2D side-scrolling endless-running game that can be rather frustrating to beat. However, the tougher the challenge, the sweeter the rewards, right? So, do give this game a go if you’re looking for a simple yet challenging running game. You won’t regret it!
